Hello, this is my first blog post. Today I discovered a Crow's nest in my back yard. It inspired me to start this blog with a couple of goals in mind. I want to document and track the pair of crows nesting. I believe this to be their first year nesting in this parcticular spot. American Crows tend to begin egg laying around April or May this means we have a fews weeks before eggs are expected. Today I observed the pair bringing branches and leaves to their nest. From what I can see the nest its not completed. I am hoping to have discovered them at a fairly early stage of nesting. During this time I going to learn more about crows and their behaviors.
The other goal of this blog post is to attempt to befriend these crows or any other corvids that live around me. Many know crows to be very intelligent animals capable of bonding with humans. I am hoping that bonding with these birds might encourage them to return to my backyard to nest in years to come.
I want to be has respectful and careful not to disturb these birds. Crows are migratory and the last thing I want is to prevent them from wanting to migrate. I am not trying to make them my pet, just form a connection with these amazing creatures.
